Lenssssssssssssssssssssssss

My lens that I was given was a Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM.

EF means Electronic Focus
L means extra durability and weather sealing
USM means Ultra-Sonic Motor: the Focus motor operates silently
Optics: 8 elements, 6 groups, including one glass molded (GMo) aspherical element.
The lens has a floating design with which the lens adjusts itself to optimize correction as it's focused.

Good News:
1.) Best super-speed 50mm lens I've ever used, with no veiling haze like conventional fast 50mm lenses wide open.
2.) Smaller, less expensive and faster autofocus than the huge 50mm f/1.0 L and much faster autofocus than the 85mm f/1.2L II.
3.) Great, modern ergonomics.

Bad News:
1.) Expensive.
2.) The $125 50/1.8 II is just as sharp if you're not shooting at large apertures.

This lend would be great for portraits.

Aperture

Aperture is how big the hole in the lens is. Aperture effects the photo by how clear or how sharp it is.

If I was a teacher and I had to give them a homework assignment it would be to go out take 5 photos that shows the differences of aperture.

Ben Conant

Ben Conant from the Ledger Transcript came into our Photo 1 class and talked about his job as editor for the newspaper. Ben talked about many things that he has to do and what he had to do, he told us that he didn't actually see himself as a photographer. He gave us many tips and advice on how to be successful on being a photo journalist, one tip was if you are sent to do an assignment, take many photos to get as many great ones as possible. Another tip he gave us when you are on a assignment is to get the photo no matter what, like if you are sent to a fire that is currently happening you should try to get close, try to blend in and if you get sent away from that area, try again. It was really cool having Ben come in and talk to us, I would love for him to come in again but for more time.

Shutter Speed Final

Shutter Speed is how long the shutter in a camera stays open to let light in. The Shutter Speed effects the photo by either freezing or blurring a moving object.

ISO: 1250 AP: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/320

ISO: 1250 AP: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/320

ISO: 400 AP: 4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/50
